Scopus Bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations of peer reviewed journal articles .
If a publication in Pure is indexed in Scopus, it will automatically be assigned a Scopus
publication ID which can be used in connection with analyses . If a publication in Pure is not
indexed in Scopus, it will not be part of the research analysis .
In the Department of Planning, only 36 % of the PURE publications from 2015–2019 are
indexed in Scopus .
SciVal A web-based reporting tool by Elsevier which is used for bibliometric analysis of data in
Scopus .
BFI The Bibliometric Research Indicator, in Danish ‘Den Bibliometriske Forskningsindikator’ (BFI) .
The BFI provides an overview of research publications from Danish universities . The BFI
system is an element of the performance-based model for distribution of the new block grant
based on the production of research-based publications .
Publication channels (publishers, journals, book series and series of conferences) that
trigger BFI points are ranked at three levels: ordinary channels are level 1 (BFI1), particularly
distinguished channels are level 2 (BFI2), and of these, the most excellent and prestigious
channels are level 3 (BFI3) .
Publishers can only be ranked at levels 1 and 2, whereas journals, book series and series of
conferences can be ranked at levels 2 and/or 3 .
Internal The publicly funded income source allocated to higher education (teaching) and research
funding activities (Research) . The resources are allocated to the department based primarily on
teaching and research activities, and secondarily as strategic resources managed by the dean .
The allocation of resources for teaching activity was based on the number of teaching hour
provided until 2018, and has since 2019 instead been based on student FTE .
The resources for research are allocated based on the above teaching activity, external
income, BFI points and the number of PhD graduations .
The same metrics are used to allocate resources to the eight research groups . Only the
student FTE cannot always be assigned to one group, which is why the number of delivered
teaching hours are used for allocations to the research groups .
